Holiday
Greetings from the ICA 2010 Organising Committee in Cape Town, South
Africa! We wish you a relaxing and festive season to usher in the new
year. And don’t forget, the beginning of 2009 brings us one step closer
to ICA 2010 in March – it’s just around the corner!
THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME
Our
congress theme, “United in our Diversity”, recognises that actuaries
are active in many fields and in many countries, and the scientific
programme is designed to meet the professional needs of every actuary
attending the congress. With eight subject tracks aligned to areas of
interest to actuaries, the content covers the wide range of actuarial
application. The format is equally varied, including plenary sessions,
presentations and technical papers with input from actuaries and
external experts, designed to meet the requirements of everyone from
the technical specialist to the executive.
SHARE YOUR WORK WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ACTUARIAL COMMUNITY
ICA
2010 will be an excellent opportunity to present and discuss your
research in a multidisciplinary forum of actuarial professionals. The
Call for Papers and Presentations was issued in September and you can
find the details here.
AWARD-WINNING CAPE TOWN
If
you are still undecided about visiting Cape Town, South Africa for the
ICA 2010 Congress, you will be interested to hear that Cape Town has
recently been named UK Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph readers’ favourite city in the world in its 2008 Travel Awards, topping Sydney, San Francisco and Vancouver. And South Africa was voted third favourite travel destination in the world, excluding Europe. We hope that helps convince you to visit our beautiful city for ICA 2010! YOUR SOUTHERN AFRICAN HOLIDAY
Before
or after the congress, don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy some of
Southern Africa’s great destinations. South Africa, resting at the
bottom of the enormous African continent, is a land of great diversity
and beauty, featuring tropical coastlines and arid deserts; carpets of
dazzling daisies and Big Five safaris; proud tradition and world-class
infrastructure.
A
South African holiday offers something for everyone: go on a luxury
safari in the renowned Kruger National Park, take a fabulous African
beach holiday along the coast, experience gourmet fare in the
cosmopolitan and breathtakingly beautiful Cape Town and its winelands,
not to mention the great range of South African family holidays in this
family-friendly destination.
And
if you have time to explore a bit further afield, countries like
Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and Mozambique all have unique features that
make each of them worth a visit – the Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls,
Sossusvlei and the Bazaruto Islands just to name a few. Just click here for a selection of itinerary ideas to inspire your journey.
